Rolimpin x National Beach Day

Have you had time lately to feel completely and utterly relaxed? Do you remember what it feels like to have your toes in the sand and to hear the waves crashing at your feet? We can honestly say that the beach is the perfect place for everyone to feel as if all of the weight they’ve been carrying around can finally be taken off their shoulders. Beaches have long inspired serenity and contemplation, as the crashing of the waves soothes even the deepest of our worries. Here in Rolimpin, we are devoted to protecting the beaches that have given us so much, asking for nothing in return.

We want to dedicate our first blog post to the beautiful beaches of Puerto Rico. We want to emphasize the word PROTECT, which can be interpreted in myriad ways. We feel a need to protect our beaches from pollution, from damage and especially from privatization. Although there was talk of privatizing the beach of Mar Chiquita not long ago, this project was barely talked about in mainstream media. The project did not go through and was considered to be “resolved,” but we know that this is not the last time we’re going to hear of one of our beaches being privatized. We want to use this National Beach Day to create awareness about the privatization of our beaches and to urge you, our reader, to take action whenever one is needed. There is strength in numbers and we want to have as many people as possible in our corner when it is time to fight for the beaches responsible for our best and most peaceful moments.

Rolimpin prides itself on being an environmentally-conscious brand. We have been inspired by Puerto Rico and its beautiful beaches and are passionate about keeping them clean. We also feel a sense of responsibility to our beaches and have vowed to speak out against their privatization. Because Puerto Rico is a popular tourist destination, many investors want to take advantage of our coasts, by buying them and developing them for tourist consumption. The Rolimpin brand stands by the premise that neither our beaches nor our island are for sale.

We’d also like to emphasize that our clothing is a reflection of our love for bright colors and the need to keep the beauty of our surroundings alive, much like the famous Harris Paint commercial and the unforgettable song Los Colores de mi Tierra, which is etched in every Puerto Rican’s mind. Now more than ever, we must rejoice in the little things. The colorful aspect of the world, the moments with family and friends, and the days at the beach have become limited nowadays, and we want to bring you at least a sliver of hope and happiness through our clothing and our philosophy.

Just like we came together to oust the governor who made fun of our deaths and our people, we must come together during a global pandemic and at least attempt to contemplate what the world has to offer. For us, that means thinking of our beaches, of the good times spent with our friends at the beach, sippin’ on Medalla and listening to the latest Bad Bunny track. We want you to feel like family. We’re here to bring you a distraction from our current global pandemic, but also to bring awareness. We want everyone to know about our love for Puerto Rico and its beaches and that we will always fight for our little slice of heaven.
